Privacy Policy

A private tattoo experience can be incredibly transformative to your life.

People encounter highly stressful situations daily, and finding the time and space to be both alone, and process parts of our lives with another person can also be limited or hard to find.

The dynamic relationship between tattoo artist and client is very unique. Getting tattooed has a way of opening you up to share about yourself, and to feel seen, heard, sympathized with, cared for, and supported.

At Mothership Ink, all information you share with the artist is kept confidential.

What is spoken at Mothership Ink, stays between you and the artist.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the private studio like?

Your tattoo experience is greatly improved when your body is in a calm and relaxed environment. There are no phones ringing off the hook, no random folks peeping in at you while you get tattooed, and the artist is focused 100% on you for your entire session. The studio space is inside a brick office plaza that is easy to access from Merrimon Ave. There is free parking available in front of the building and an overflow lot behind the building. The studio has a waiting/lounge area with hot tea, light snalcks and spring water available, a private bathroom, and a separate room where the tattoos are performed with the highest quality medical grade single-use and sterile equipment and machinery.

Conversation is welcome, and can be a nice way to distract from the pain, and the artist is happy to play the music you want to listen to while you get tattooed! You are also welcome to tune into your headphones or devices.

What can I expect the day of my session?

Your artist is ready for you at your scheduled session time, please be right on time. Your session will involve some preliminary designing process which includes: cleaning and preparation of the area, application of stencil, free-hand drawing, and any adjustments to ensure the design will fit and flatters your body’s natural beauty. Once the mapping is laid out, we will begin the tattoo. Full day sessions we will take a lunch break around the mid-way point, and intermittent breaks throughout the session.

You can expect to feel pain.

Your willingness to feel pain will strengthen your internal resiliency to all types of pain: physical, emotional, mental. You will discover you own ability to endure hardship, process emotional suffering, and emerge with greater fortitude.

With the care of the Mothership Method, we will be nurturing and guiding you through this entire process, from the moment you walk in we are focused on delivering you through the process. Blankets, Pillows, and bolsters are provided to support your body so that you can feel relaxed and allow the transformation to happen; please feel welcome to bring any additional snacks and any other items.

Can I bring someone with me to my session?

Tattooing is a very focused and intentional practice of permanent transformation and minimizing distractions enables the artist to perform optimally, therefore it is requested that you come prepared to experience your tattoo session by yourself. The exception to this is when more than one person will be getting tattooed, (you can find more about Tandem Sessions above).

Visitors are welcome to pop-in for quick visits, drop off snacks or to check on you, or join for the lunch break during full-day sessions.

Do you give previews of the design?

There are no design previews until the day of your session.

All information that is discussed at the consultation is utilized along with the experience of the artist and vision for the tattoo. Tweaks and changes can be made at the time of your session, this is considered as your session time.

Trusting the process is essential to a rewarding tattoo experience.

Do you offer Touch Ups?

Yes, one free touch up session is available for 3 months after your tattoo has healed and settled completely. Please note that due to the unpredictable factors of personal after-care, additional touch-ups are offered at $100/ half hour. The artist is human, and tattoos will heal with varying results, therefore please email pictures of the healed tattoo to get on the schedule for a touch-up session.
