Privacy Policy

A private tattoo experience can be incredibly transformative to your life.

People encounter highly stressful situations daily, and finding the time and space to be both alone, and process parts of our lives with another person can also be limited or hard to find.

The dynamic relationship between tattoo artist and client is very unique. Getting tattooed has a way of opening you up to share about yourself, and to feel seen, heard, sympathized with, cared for, and supported.

At Mothership Ink, all information you share with the artist is kept confidential.

What is spoken at Mothership Ink, stays between you and the artist.

As continuing tattoo projects produce long-term bonds friendships with the artists, all personal information shared at tattoo sessions will be kept private for as long as you are collecting ink from us.

Upon check in at your session, you will be asked to fill out a Tattoo Release Form, this will have your name, address, license and phone number as well as an emergency contact number. These paper forms are stored in a private folder for 2 years as is required by the Health Department, after which they are shredded or burned in a lovely fire.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the private studio like?

Your tattoo experience is greatly improved when your body is in a calm and relaxed environment. There are no phones ringing off the hook, no random folks peeping in at you while you get tattooed, and the artist is focused 100% on you for your entire session. The studio space is inside a brick office plaza that is easy to access from Merrimon Ave. There is free parking available in front of the building and an overflow lot behind the building. The studio has a waiting/lounge area with hot tea and spring water available, a private bathroom, and a separate room where the tattoos are performed with medical grade single-use and sterile equipment and machinery.

Conversation is welcome, and can be a nice way to distract from the pain, you are also welcome to listen to headphones or watch your device. And, you get to chose the music you want to listen to while you get tattooed!

What can I expect the day of my session?

Your artist is ready for you at your scheduled session time, please be right on time. Your session will involve some preliminary designing process: preparation of the area, stenciling, free-hand drawing time and adjustments to ensure the design fits, flatters and enhances your body’s natural beauty. Feel free to bring snacks and any other items for comfort or distraction such as a blanket and headphones.

Can I bring someone with me to my session?

Tattooing is a very focused and intentional practice of permanent transformation and minimizing distractions enables the artist to perform optimally, therefore it is requested that you come prepared to experience your tattoo session by yourself. The exception to this is when more than one person will be getting tattooed, (you can find more about Tandem Sessions above).

Visitors are welcome to pop-in for quick visits, drop off snacks or to check on you, or join for the lunch break during full-day sessions.

Do you give previews of the design?

In order to honor the tattoos scheduled each week it is not feasible to provide design previews before the day of your session. This is one benefit of booking an in-person consultation where your ideas are shared and gel together with the artist’s input into a cohesive plan. At the consultation a “mock-up” version of your design will be provided for you, and you are welcome to give feedback changes up to one week prior to your tattoo.

Trust in the process is essential to the magic of creation, and understanding tattoo as a creative process is rewarded with a successful tattoo experience!

Do you offer Touch Ups?

Yes, one free touch up session is available after 30 days of getting tattooed, after your tattoo has healed and settled completely. Please note that due to the unpredictable factors of personal after-care, additional touch-ups are offered at for $100/ half hour. Please email pictures of the healed tattoo to get on the schedule for a touch-up session.
